The entrance to Hauraki Harbor, along with the Coromandel Peninsula, is covered by a number of islands. The largest of these islands is Great Barrier Island, or Great Barrier Island. It lies at the entrance to the harbor and serves as a natural barrier protecting the harbor from ferocious Pacific storms.
